Password Managers · 2026 reliability ranking
Most Reliable Password Managers (2026)
We ranked 12 password managers by real-world reliability over the last 90 days, using 22 status page incidents and our own around-the-clock uptime checks. A business password manager holds the logins staff need to reach email, banking, payroll and customer systems, so when its sync or sign-in service is down people can be locked out of other tools too. Most apps keep an offline copy of the vault, but new devices, shared-vault changes, single sign-on and admin actions like onboarding or offboarding usually need the vendor's servers. An outage on a busy morning can stall work across the whole team, and a failed sync can leave someone using an old password.

What to check before you choose a password manager
- Check how the apps behave offline: whether the browser extension and mobile app can still unlock and autofill from a cached vault when the vendor's servers are down.
- Look at incidents affecting login, single sign-on and sync first. Those block access; outages on the website, forum or billing don't.
- If your team signs in through SSO or an identity provider, remember an outage there can lock people out even when the password manager itself is up.
- Keep a sealed emergency kit or recovery code for admin accounts so a vendor outage or lockout doesn't leave you without access to critical systems.

Frequently asked questions
What is the most reliable password manager?
Based on the last 90 days of data, Devolutions Cloud is the most reliable password manager we track, with a reliability score of 94.5/100 and 99.98% uptime.
How do you measure password manager reliability?
We poll each vendor's public status page every few minutes, record every incident, and run our own uptime checks against each vendor's login and customer-facing pages. Uptime (40%), incident frequency (20%), average time to resolve (20%) and transparency (20%) combine into one score out of 100.
How often are these rankings updated?
Continuously. Status pages and uptime checks run every five minutes and scores are recalculated several times an hour.
Can vendors pay to rank higher?
No. Sponsored placements are clearly labelled, shown separately from the rankings and never change a vendor's score.
