Most Reliable KYC & Identity Verification Providers (2026)
We ranked 16 identity verification providers by real-world reliability over the last 90 days, using 101 status page incidents and our own around-the-clock uptime checks. Identity verification runs inside sign-up and payout flows, so when a provider's API or SDK fails, new customers can't open accounts and regulated businesses can't activate users or release funds until checks complete. Many failures are slowdowns rather than hard outages: delayed decisions, stuck document checks or an upstream government database that stops responding. A few hours of failed checks means abandoned sign-ups and a manual review backlog for your team.

- Socure reported the most incidents (18 in 90 days).
What to check before you choose a identity verification provider
- Find out what happens to a user who is mid-verification when the provider goes down: whether the session can be resumed and whether you can let them in pending a later check.
- Look at which components fail most often. API and SDK outages block sign-ups; dashboard or reporting problems only slow down your review team.
- Ask how the provider handles outages at upstream data sources such as government ID databases, and whether it switches to another source or just returns delayed results.
- Check incidents for the region your customers are in. An outage in another data centre matters less than one where your traffic is processed.

How do you measure identity verification provider reliability?
We poll each vendor's public status page every few minutes, record every incident, and run our own uptime checks against each vendor's login and customer-facing pages. Uptime (40%), incident frequency (20%), average time to resolve (20%) and transparency (20%) combine into one score out of 100.
How often are these rankings updated?
Continuously. Status pages and uptime checks run every five minutes and scores are recalculated several times an hour.
Can vendors pay to rank higher?
No. Sponsored placements are clearly labelled, shown separately from the rankings and never change a vendor's score.
